Dear All Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre Customers:

We are writing to inform you about the potential job action on UBC’s Vancouver Campus, and to provide you with general information on how this may affect you.

CUPE 116 has provided strike notice and are eligible to start a strike as early as this Thursday morning. During any job action the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre is committed to continuing its business operations. However, because CUPE 116 has employees that serve as key roles in our day to day operations (icemakers and custodial) normal services could become jeopardized. From the information we have received it seems unlikely that a full scale strike will occur in the immediate future, but there is still a possibility. We do not expect an immediate impact on our day to day services, but if a full strike does happen, schedule of ice time(s) could be changed or cancelled.

Moving forward, please check our website daily at 10am for the most recent updates regarding the pending strike. We would appreciate that you DO NOT contact us directly as we will be in touch with you if your ice time(s) will be affected in any way.
