Learn to Skate

Learn to Skate

A fun approach to learning to skate, designed for children with limited or no experience. We will focus on familiarizing your child to the ice and arena environment.  Standing alone and balance are the basic essentials for your child to progress in a positive way on the ice.

New for 2013, Learn to Skate at UBC will have Levels 1-5 available for your child.  A checklist will be done by our instructors for each group and report cards will be issued to every registrants.  (Note: Your child must attend a minimum of 5 classes to receive a report card).  Click on your specific age group on the side menu to see the course listings and different level descriptions.

*This is a very sensitive age for all and it is unreasonable to assume your child will just step on the ice and be comfortable.  Crying and not wanting to come on the ice without their parent is very common at this age.  Our instructors will try and assist your child to the best of their ability; however, priority will go to group instruction. It is up to the parent to watch their child until he or she is ready to join the group!  Please see 'Policies & Procedures' before registering your child.

Geared towards three different age groups: Preschool (3-5 years), School Aged (6-12 years); Teen & Adult (13+ years). To find out more about "Learn to Skate" click on the specific link on the side menu.
